CHED: “Unvaccinated students, no face-to-face classes”

Manila, Philippines – According to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Prospero de Vera, students who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed face-to-face classes. Following the expected opening of more schools to participate in in-person classes in the country.

De Vera also advised those who have not been fully vaccinated to participate in online classes first.

“Yung mga hindi bakunado, puwede silang mag-aral sa pamamagitan ng online classes. Ang policy ng CHED sa lahat ng higher education institutions ay flexible learning policy pa rin, (Those who are not vaccinated, they can study through online classes. CHED’s policy in all higher education institutions is still a flexible learning policy,)” he said.

“Yung pamantasan ‘yung magde-decide ng tamang mix ng face to face, online, at offline. ’Yun ’yung kanilang option. Puwede silang mag-full face-to-face, full online. Puwede ring maging online plus face-to-face, depende sa pangangailangan ng pamantasan at kakayanan ng mga estudyante at faculty, (The university will decide the right mix of face to face, online, and offline. That’s their option. They can go full face-to-face, full online. It can also be online plus face-to-face, depending on the needs of the university and the abilities of the students and faculty,)” De Vera explained.

On Friday, the Covid-19 task force approved the guideline recommended by CHED for conducting face-to-face classes in areas under Alert Level 1.
